Default Cherry Tree wood

Hi.

I've read conflicting advice regarding wood from a cherry tree and whether it's safe for hamsters.
I have a tree in the garden and was thinking of making some wooden toys but not sure if it's OK for them.

What are your thoughts ?

Don't know for certain but I've seen posts saying it's not safe, I always err on the side of doubt if I find conflicting opinions on things like that.

I would avoid it. It's a stone fruit and these species contain slightly higher levels of cyanide in the wood. To us it's not a big deal but to a teeny little animal it could be enough to cause harm. It's just best to play safe and not use it. There are plenty of woods on the "safe" list
