Oooooh, thanks . I may actually try to grow some and see if I can manage! I like the idea of giving Spike some fresh things to nibble on. So I'll use a small saucer (or maybe pick up something from the pound shop), put on some toilet paper, wet it, sprinkle seeds thinly and put it in a place that gets indirect sun. And make sure stays damp if not wet.

I planted mine in pretty pots to put on my kitchen windowsil. Covered them with a thin layer of soil and then put the whole pot in a sandwich bag to keep the moisture in, then removed the bags when they sprouted. Gardening is not my thing lol but miraculously I have live plants!

If you want a low budget idea get some Chinese food delivered XD

The plastic containers are great but please do make sure to put a little hole in the bottom so the extra water can escape rather than soaking the plants XD

I find for a newbie that's the best method because you cant over water them that way

The soil is for tortoises as is most of her stuff, hence Shelled warriors!
You really don't want to give your ham access to any soil really.

Just a quick update on this - I've had it growing on my windowsill for a few weeks and it's quite pretty which is a nice bonus! Nibble absolutely loves it especially the tallest plants whatever they are, I've never seen him nom anything so fast! I usually cut him a bit each evening and leave it in his treat bowl, and he always eats everything right up. It's really, really easy to grow. Wil definitely buy some more of the seeds.

I was wondering how Nibbles got on with his weeds! Nice to know he's enjoying them, I think it's probably the vetch he's homing in on most although the red clover can get quite tall too.

I read this post a while back, had the seeds on my watch list for about 3 days then came back, read the post, saw the tissue "how to for dummies" (MASSIVE thank you to RubyDG for asking for it, it's only cause I saw you asked for it that I didn't, and a MASSIVE thank you to cypher for explaining it ).
I didn't say anything due to everything else I've ever planted dieing, so I thought I'd try it out, if it didn't work no one would be any the wiser, but it actually worked. I've managed to grow something and I am astounded since it's in toilet roll too!
I've attached a picture of so far, but I totally forgot about it until today as it sits on my bedroom windowsill which I can't get to through the sheer amount of clothes I own and lack of drawers (still in moving in phase and finding more important things for my finances, like Pixie! xD)..
Thought I'd climb over clothes and have a peek, and I was pleasantly surprised, I did read that someone said they thrive on neglect, and yes, they do! I left a little water in the tub underneath the strawberry tub the seeds are in and they've done just fine with plenty of water spare still...

If I can grow something like this, anyone can

Was wondering how tall they're likely to get, how do I know they're done growing & can give bits to Pixie?

the tallest plants, which I have yet to identify, are about a foot tall after a week. I've got three pots on the go planted at different times. The first batch I gave him after about a week but new plants keep appearing! I just cut off a little each evening rather than giving him a whole pot each time, that way he has a constant supply!

They look good!
They probably won't get that tall grown like that unlike the ones grown outdoors, you can feed them when they are still quite small sprouts & keep using them until they start to look a bit leggy & sad!
Grown without soil they won't last that long but it's fairly easy to see if they're still healthy & edible.
