Re: Great grow your own hamster treats!
I tried to contact the seller to see if they'd ship to Canada but never heard back

Re: Great grow your own hamster treats!
Ooh just bought some, they will be perfect to grow and put in the little tiny pots below (i got some 30mm ones too), I have some nibble crass to cut up and pop into the pots too. they will look so cute when Lois scoffs them

I am sure they were cheaper when I bought the pots though.

Re: Great grow your own hamster treats!
My hamster mix seeds have sprouted nicely! Nibble should have fresh greens in his bowl by next week!

Re: Great grow your own hamster treats!
Would anyone mind doing a 'grow your own seeds for Dummies'? I know you use toilet paper and water but how much water? Do you water it every day or just once in the beginning? Do you need to spread the seeds out evenly on the toilet paper or just sort of sprinkle? Also do you put the seeds on the bottom with toilet paper on top or do you make a type of toilet paper/seed sandwich with the seeds in the middle? Do they need to sit on the window sill in direct sun or in a shaded area?
I know nothing about plants except that when they turn black and crumble they're pretty much dead. Sorry!

Re: Great grow your own hamster treats!
lol! Ruby that made me laugh
It's really quite easy, just put the paper on a saucer or something similar, wet it well, sprinkle seeds thinly on top, keep the paper damp at all times but don't drown your seeds or wash them away if you can help it, put it in a light place but not direct sun if it's a warm day, then hey presto, you suddenly find you have green fingers after all
ETA that's the indoor method, I do the same with soil if it's outside, the nice thing about growing them on toilet paper is you can give your ham the whole thing & no need to worry about them eating soil.
