Well I give my hammies one or two pieces of cooked pasta a week. However I have never tried brown rice. It's probably ok but I would wait for further advice from people who have tried it before. Hope this helped! X

A little cooked rice or pasta is fine. They can have pasta raw but not all will like it.

It`s better not to feed hamsters human processed foods, which pasta is. Rice is generally a carbohydrate, like pasta and a few cooked grains won`t hurt, but generally I would keep these as occasional treats and not part of their daily diet. Hamsters should be fed a good variety of seeds and grains that are found in mixes made specifically for them, so feeding a good hamster mix and looking at what it contains is important. Some can be downright naff, while others are very good. You want a hamster mix that offers plenty of varied ingredients rather than just sunflower seeds, peanuts, extruded biscuits and corn. You will find these within hamster foods, but you also want to see seeds, flaked grains and pulses.

Dwarf hamsters enjoy millet seeds and sprays and these can be added to a dwarf mix if the mix doesn`t already contain any. Burgess Dwarf hamster food does. Some other commercial mixes don't. Raw vegetables are a big part of nutrition too but these should be fed in very small amounts and introduced slowly if the hamster has never been fed fresh raw veg before. One garden pea every few days or a small piece of grated carrot or fingernail piece of raw broccoli. x

Mine love pasta cooked but, it's an occasional treat. They get small amounts of steamed veggies and get the odd bit of fruit, they love their greens.

That sounds lovely! My hamsters absolutely LOVE romain lettuce. It's always the first thing they eat if it's in their bowl.

All of my hammies have adored pasta. If I make macaroni and cheese, they get a little elbow macaroni before I put all the other stuff in. If I am making spagetti, after it's drained I put some aside for the hams before I put the sauce on it. They don't get it often, usually once a month or so.

As long as they are almonds meant for human consumption (not bitter almonds!) & have nothing added they're fine. Only out of the shell though.
