Default Sunflower seeds

I'm bit baffled about sunflower seeds. It's pretty much the only treat that Hector, my robo, goes for so far. I'm taming him at the moment & need something that he knows he likes & will come & say hello for until he gets friendly enough that doesn't need an incentive I know that sunflower seeds are high in fat so I don't want to over feed him. I remove the sunflower seeds from his food so that the only ones he's getting are from me. When I've looked it up anywhere it just says don't give them too many. But how many is too many?! I know different species will be differing amounts but "too many" is very vague! Any guidance would be appreciated.

It comes in their food, but they both still love them. So I give it as a treat I know they will take. I don't keep count, since even if I gave them only a few, they would stash them and have a bunch anyways....right next to their monkey nut stash.....

Someone else may have a number, but I don't think about it too much. They have some in their food mix, and they get them as treats. Im finding they aren't all that food motivated anyways, so if they don't want to come out? They will refuse almost anything if its too much trouble....heh

Well my two hamsters usually only will take one sunflower/pumpkin seed off me and that's usually enough for them (saying that they are still pretty small for dwarf hamsters and sometimes the seeds can be twice the size of their tiny paws ). So I usually can tell when they've had enough because they don't seem interested in them anymore. I'd say perhaps around 4 maybes? I can imagine he'd probably get a couple in his food anyways...

Thanks guys. I take the ones out of his food to try not to over do it. He is a glutton for them.

I do the same & take them out of the food to feed by hand, when they're young & growing I think a couple or three a day for taming is fine.
Has anyone seen a fat robo anyway? I can hardly imagine with all the energy they burn off lol!

Ha! That's very true! He's fuelling himself for his mammoth runs. I figured it's like when I had my kittens, they need more calories when they're growing so I don't feel as bad about giving too many & hopefully he'll get friendly enough that when he's a bit older he won't need the encouragement!
