my hamsters wont eat vegies :(

Hi evryone,

my hamsters wont eat any fruits or vegies i dont no what to do. if any one could help that would be great. i have 2 dwarf hamsters and they do have a bit of a bit of a reputation for not eating stuf( treats ect )

What sorts of things have you tried with them? I find that different pets have different tastes, just like we do! Maybe one will like carrots but not cucumbers for example. I think you have to be careful with fruits and maybe carrots with dwarfs though because of the sugar content but hopefully someone will be along who knows better than I.

Just keep trying tiny bits of different things and sooner or later you might hit on something they like! I once had a chihuahua who would do anything for chickpeas

If they don't want to eat fruit or veg I'd leave them be, it won't hurt if they don't eat them
You can always try new things but it really won't do any harm if they just want to stick to their food

I rip bits of veg up to show mine that it's edible. It generally helps them get the idea.

Have you thought of growing some cat grass or the hamster seed mix you can get on ebay.

It's really easy to grow indoors or out & my hamsters enjoy it, they like a bit of clover or dandelion from the garden too so that may be worth a try.
