Baby Food
I was amazed to find out that you can feed your hammy baby food. I want to buy some so are their flavors you recommend and how much do you feed and how often? Are there any ingredients to stay away from?

Re: Baby Food
I've only tried two, one was a chicken Sunday lunch that Badger my Syrian loved (tried to pouch the spoon!), my hybrid didn't touch it though. Got a different chicken one that even Badger turned his nose up at lol.
Don't get any with garlic or onion in it. Other than that, pretty much all of them are safe to feed hams Stay away from sugary ones if you're going to be giving it to a hybrid.

Re: Baby Food
I'd have to look at the ingredients. I avoid anything with added sugar, to be honest.

Re: Baby Food
Avoid potato(unless your sure it has been cooked) and anything citrus as well, that stuff does no good for hamsters!
I agree with sticking to the non-sugary ones but all of my hamsters absolutely adore the 'creamed porridge' baby food. It is not that sugary to be honest compared to some of the available baby foods. Loads of brands make it but I get the Heinz brand from Asda every 2-4 weeks! I could not image my hamsters without their monthly teaspoon of it... x

Re: Baby Food
Er... I've fed my hams potato with no problem, I believe that as long as its cooked its ok and it won't be uncooked in baby food

Re: Baby Food
Some baby foods that contain potato don't actually cook the potato even though they stated something on the packaging which suggested that they were cooked. There was a detailed study about this before which I read, so I always think its best to avoid potato unless you know that the specific baby food you are buying contains potato that is 100% cooked! x
