I've been using block food (Oxbow) and supplement with Ecotrition but then my hamsters will ignore the block and just eat the Ecotrition blend. :/ Wicket has huge pantries and the other two have tiny ones.

Yes, the oxbow is a big hit for both of mine-
I'm concerned with Teddy- she does not
Store in a pantry?? And hardly touches her
Mixed seed food- I'll have to try different
Brands to find one she likes..she's not thin,
So perhaps she is just eating what she needs
But not storing, I've not had a ham that
Did not fill their pantries..

Hi Teddy001. Our hamster is quite young still (7 weeks), and she doesn't take her food from her bowl & put it in a separate store either. We've seen her eating bits straight out the bowl or pouching a few bits & taking them to what seems like her favourite eating spot & eating them there. My daughter scattered some food for her & we watched while she picked up the pieces, one by one, and put them in her food bowl. Maybe they just think the bowl is a convenient place to have their store, or maybe they'll move their stores as they get older.

Hi ya Scoobysue-
I think that's what it is-- some baby's
Do not store a panty- Teddy's gone to her
Food bowl to nibble here and there- but I've
Noticed when I scatter the mix through out
Her cage. She will forage and stuff her pouches
The retreat to either her wheel or her nest
And I can hear her eating- she doesn't really
Dig much either- and just recently started
Sleeping in her house- before then she
Slept where ever she fell asleep, out in
The open-- or on top of her house. I'm
Wondering at what age they will save food
In a pantry? Or is it something that was not
Learned from their mommy? I'm thinking
Its instinct that hams burrow and store food
In panty? Her seed mix bowl always looks
Full- but she's growing and and looks healthy.
She does eat Oxbow essentials ( the green
Round food) out of bowl, but I've not seen
Any indication of a hidden pantry when I clean
Her cage- lol.
