mix harry hamster with Supreme Science

Hi, every hamster i have had (owned hamsters going on 15 years now) have always left the brown log things of their food, I understand correct me if am wrong that these are pellets? so i was going to buy the Supreme Science Selective Hamster Food and mix it in with their normal harry hamster, would this be safe enough?

also i bought them a selection of treats but wondering how much of each can i give a week , i have shelled walnuts , hazelnuts, raisins, dried fruit mix from naturals boredom breaker atm they get one of each a week they also get corn on the cob about 2 inches cut off raw and a small bit of cucumber, and dog biscut once a week not sure which else to add

I don't know what you have in Ireland but I had the same problem and got fortified food that looks like kibble for hamsters. All the nutrients are in each piece instead of separate. The kind I'm using now is by Ox Bow. I still supplement with nuts, fruits, veggies.

I'm no expert so I can't comment on frequency/variety.

We do that actually. We add a handful of the Science selective 'hearts' to a bag of mix. Out hamsters are not particularly fond of those though to be honest and tend to eat the seed diet as much as before.

This is what I am feeding all of my hamsters at the moment as their basic food mix,

1 x 700g bag of harry hamster
1 x 700g bag of burgess food
1 x 350g bag of Science Selective

I think that my hamsters enjoy this mix and I personally feel that the quantities are about right.

I mix the Science Selective biscuits in with Burgess SupaHamster for one of my mixes. My Syrian is quite fussy and he won't eat the bickies in the Burgess, or the pellets, but he really likes the Science Selective so I give him a few of those, as then I know he is getting his required nutrients even though he's quite selective. The SS is a compete food, so they are getting everything they need in one biscuit.

For other treat ideas, here's a few that my lot love:

Millet sprays (you can find these in the bird section of most pet shops)
Peanuts in shells/monkey nuts
Dried goji berries
Dried banana
Pumpkin seeds
Dried forage (dandelion and herbs)
Dry porridge oats

And BUGS. I have yet to find a hammie that does not love a fat juicy bug! You can give mealworms, crickets, locusts, and of course... the ultimate favourite... waxworms. My lot couldn't get by without a plump, wriggly waxworm in their diet!
You can find these in the reptile section of most pet shops. Most are sold live in little pots, but some you can get dried or canned. You can pick up dried mealworms quite easily, as they are sold in loads of shops for wild birds.

Thank you all for the replies will pick up a bag soon for them I got some millet spray but they didn't like it, will try and pick up a few other goodies when am at the pet shop!

I honestly prefer to give a seed blend muesli type food mix rather than all in one extruded biscuit type food. I just feel that if it were me, I'd get bored of the same thing day in and day out, and feel that it is rather bland by itself.

I understand that some hams are picky, and mine is no exception, but unless I am seeing significant health problems like patchy fur, increased scratching, or other signs of malnutrition, I don't worry about it.

With that said, I think mixing Supreme Science Selective and Hazel/Harry Hamster together is a great idea, as it gives them the best of both worlds.

I also mix the block type foods with a hamster mix. I also add in fresh fruits and veggies, nuts and dog biscuits, among other things. Your choice seems pretty varied and should keep
your hamsters happy and healthy.
