Default Re: Portioning food for baby hamster

Hello, I actually have 6 hybrid dwarfs- smokey 10 1/2 months, spike 10 months, stewie 8 1/2 months, smudge 6 months, buddy 6 months ( he looks a lot like yours but way bigger lol) and pip who is only about 2 months and teeny tiny little guy. I had one other dwarf Gandolf who passed away from health issues, he had several problems, at about 8 months old. All my other little guys are very healthy. I also have 4 syrians. I feed them all the same stuff but just less for the dwarfs. The biggest difference I have seen is that the dwarfs get up a lot through out the day and want a little attention but I don't see most of the Syrians until evening and one won't come out most nights until the lights and tv are off.
4 weeks sounds very young but the advice everyone gave is great! I would say just watch for health problems, drinking a ton like a small bottle of water in a day or two, lumps, and their weight. But don't worry until you have a reason to. As you get to know your hammy you will know if something changes in them. Congrats on your little guy he is so cute!

Dang. Come in for feeding advice, realize you got the wrong type. Thanks for the clarification (and answering the original question at the same time)! Can't imagine him eating a tablespoon's worth every day, haha. Time to go read up in the dwarf forums then

edit:
Thanks Erin.R ! Much appreciate the advice Would you say they're still relatively active around 6-7pm or is that already bed-time for dwarfs? (The co-owner of the little guy is actually also named Erin!)
