Harry doesn't like Harry!
I bought some Harry hamster food recently and have mixed it with half a bag of p@h mix as this is what he was eating when I got him. I filled his bowl with half p@h and half Harry, the first thing he does is pouch all the sweet corn/sunflower seeds, then he just shoved all the Harry stuff out the way and filtered out the P@H. Will he eventually eat the Harry or does he just not like it?!
I've got a whole bag of the stuff so I could do with him liking it really!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

None of mine will eat it either which is a shame as I bought two bags. I threw the opened bag out and will probably stick the second bag on ebay. I ordered the quiko sunny greens syrian and dwarf mix instead from pet-supermarket and all my hams gobble it up.

I'll keep trying it until the p@h mix has gone. If he sent taken to it by then I guess I'll have to try something else.
I may just stick with the p@h but I've heard it's not the best, but at the same time I don't want to risk having loads of unusable food lying about!

Re: Harry doesn't like Harry!
Could you maybe start out with a lower amount of the new food in his dish or offer it as a treat? Once he's used to it or sees it as an awesome treat food he may take to it! You can store the bag in the freezer in the meantime.
If you don't want unwanted food to go to waste after its been opened you could try giving it to the spca or another local rescue. They're usually happy to have it. That's what I've done with every one of my rescues if they came with stuff I didn't want or couldn't use. Like one of my hamsters who was being fed rat food.

Re: Harry doesn't like Harry!
My Syrian went off the Harry Hamster mix and I ended up feeding him a mix of the Tesco Hamster mix and Burgess Supa hamster, which he liked better. I only keep the one dwarf hamster these days so I stick with the Burgess mixes. WAGG Hamster/Gerbil/Mouse Munch isn`t all that bad and my wee robo eats this as well as his Burgess dwarf mix and he really likes it. It`s probably cheaper than Harry Hamster too as it`s sold in most supermarkets! It has dried apple and grape in it as well as extruded biscuits, peanuts and sunflower seeds. So if your stuck for something else, maybe give the WAGG a go?
Here it is: http://www.waggfoods.com/products/UK...il-mouse-munch

Re: Harry doesn't like Harry!
I saw the Wagg at the garden centre and almost got some to try. I'll see how he gets on with the Harry over the next few days.
How is the tesco stuff price-wise? As much as I love my little nibbly man a good price is a good price!!

The Tesco mix isn`t bad. It has all the usual stuff you might expect in a mix. I`m sure it`s under £2.00 a bag. Try googling it? The WAGG must be tasty because my wee robo sits there on his shelf nibbling noisily away at the extruded biscuits! They are just a nice size too. Not like the boulders in Harry!

I did think some of the Harry chunks were a bit huge!

Re: Harry doesn't like Harry!
I used to break them up a bit with my pestle & mortar! It`s well worth looking at these other, slightly cheaper mixes because when you read between the lines, most hamster commercial mixes do a good job. Some are just marketed better than others and I feel that stops some of the `lesser` brands getting better used or known. Burgess and Supreme are probably the big market players, while supermarket brands and WAGG probably don`t get the attention they deserve. The Tesco brand and the WAGG are very similar in ingredients and analysis when compared. Just with slight differences. I feel they offer just the same benefits without the fancy mark up.
