As long as they are plain and have no added salt, sugars or additives. If you do down the cooking isle in your supermarket you can normally fine plain nuts sold for cooking purposes, as apposed to those in the snacks isle. You can feed brasil nuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, almonds.
You'll find that some people rave about almonds and how toxic they are, but this is said in poor research. As long as they are not in their shells, they are fine. There is a variety of almond that is bad, but they are bitter almonds. Those sold for human consumption, such as for cooking, will be sweet almonds.
