How much do I let her have?
I read the info on giving treats and fresh foods so I know I need to limit how often Dory has treats etc as I know she's only got a small tummy. Just wanted to make sure that what I give her and when, is not too much.
When we get her out of her cage at night, we offer her chocolate buttons but only 3 (4 max)
I gave her a 1/4 of a slice of cucumber last night and 1/4 tonight.
She's had two tiny pieces of apple.
She's had a small piece of rich tea biscuit everyday for the last 4 days (not even a quarter of a biscuit)
She's had one Pedigree Markies biscuit .
This is all spread out in the last 10 days, is it too much?

Re: How much do I let her have?
that's fine, I try and give mine one or two treats a day, though one is probably better with a new ham that's getting used to eat, and then slowly increase to two

Oh good, thank you for your response. I will limit it a bit more for now just till she's used to it

Re: How much do I let her have?
Assuming that you are feeding a main feed which provides all your hamster needs what you need to consider is that the more treats and supplements you give the less of their main feed they are eating. As you say, hamsters only have small stomachs which is why they eat small amounts frequently and they can only eat so much.
In fact I'd say that it's impossible to feed too much food per se because all they'll do is store the excess or just leave it in the food bowl. But it is possible to feed too much treats and supplements.
Personally I feed fresh veggies and a treat on the same night three nights a week which amounts to a a teaspoon full of each. The rest of the time they are eating their main feed.

Re: How much do I let her have?
I just give treats every few days they don't get treats every day, when I do give treats I give small cube size amounts. my baby hamsters get fresh veg and herbs of some sort every day to increase there water intake, but as they get older its ever few days,
