Default Question about food :)

Currently my Chinese hamsters Tilly and Snowy Bear are on Burgess dwarf hamster food but for a small bag it is getting highly expensive ! For a 700g bag it is now £3 and it used to be £2. I would like to change to Harry Hamster food by supreme I think, because its cheaper and a bigger bag I just wanted to know is this a good quality food for my Chinese hamsters and how do I ween them on to it safely without them getting a bad stomach ? Thank you xxxx

Yes Harry Hamster is a good food.

You have to feed the Burgess with a little HH & gradually more HH than Burgess over a two week period, just to make sure their tummy's don't get upset.

Some people feed half Burgess & Half HH as a mix which also works out well & would make it cheaper

As they are chinese and prone to diabetes you will need to remove any corn and peas from the harry hamster and add something like porridge oats for variety. Other than that harry hamster is a very good mix as commercial brands go.

Chinese hamsters are prone to diabetes, so you will have to pick out the corn and flakes from Harry Hamster. This is why there is a specific dwarf mix.

Even with the necessary bits removed I still much prefer harry hamster with added seeds or oats to the burgess dwarf mix, it didn't seem to have much variety or substance to it.
