Re: how to feed an pregnant hamster?
You should feed a pregnant hamster foods that are high in protein and calcium. Those would be hard boiled eggs, mealworms, a bit of plain bread soaked in a little bit of milk, plain porridge/oatmeal. This is of course, in addition to a commercial food mix.
When the pups are born, the mom will nurse them so make sure she still gets a lot of those high protein foods. Then, out of hunger, because mom's milk soon won't be enough to sustain them, they will start nibbling on what foods the mom will bring back to the nest. Then, they will venture out to find bits of whatever you are feeding Mom on their own.
