Rice krispies
Are rice krisipies safe for hams or not? I didn't think they were but on another site it says they are safe.

Mine have had them before, and nothing bad has happened to them! (I take it you mean the white rice breakfast cereal?)

Rice Krispies are fine We often add a packet of them into our homemade seed mix.

Mine have had them before and enjoyed them

I don't know hoe much sugar they have in or salt, but *I think its not much judging by the carbs.

Re: Rice krispies
I avoid using Rice Krispies - or similar cereals - for my hamsters because they're refined carbs. I stick to complex carbs which are healthier as they have a slower energy release and more fibre. I'd definitely avoid refined carbs for Campbell's just to minimise the diabetes risk - whereas complex carbs can be fed even to diabetics. I give my hamsters Bran Flakes and they LOVE them! Even Jason, my super-fussy Campbell who is bored with everything after trying it once (and makes it quite clear that you're being boring with your treat offering) can't get enough Bran Flakes.

Re: Rice krispies
Jaser has one of those sticks that hangs from the top of his cage, that's covered in litle rice crispies, honey and popcorn I think, he really enjoys it, but I've never given him actual rice crispies. I don't see they would do any harm though, its just cornflakes you have to be careful with because of their sharp edges. I think I'll try given Jasper some Krispies and bran flakes tonight. He doesn't stuff his pouches, so it should be safe to give him a branflake or two!

Re: Rice krispies
Well I offered some rice Krispies last night, and some bran flakes, Jasper George wasn't particularly interested in either But maybe he just wasn't hungry.
Roughly how many krispies am I able to give him a night?
