Dwarf Snacks
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had healthy recipes for snacks for a baby dwarf hamster. I saw a hamster kebab recipe on here but I think it was too sugary.

Re: Dwarf Snacks
For our hybrids we made (need to make more actually) some snacks from mostly porridge oats.
Mixed porridge oats with hot water until they were sticky, then piled in bird seed and mealworms (I used more bird seed than mealworms) and mixed it all up, adding more bird seed/mealworms until the entire mixture was only just sticking together. Then I squished it into little balls and dried them before handing them over to the hamsters.
Did the same for our roborovskis, but for the syrian ones we replaced mealworms with raisins (Scamp hates mealworms but loves raisins and we didn't have Fwirl when we made them).

Re: Dwarf Snacks
ooooOOooooooOoh how long do they last? I want to make smaller ones and get a tread dispenser to reward my dwarf once in a while.

Re: Dwarf Snacks
Er... We shoved ours in an airtight box and had them for a few weeks. Want to make more soon (planned to before work today and forgot) and they should last a good while if stored properly

Re: Dwarf Snacks
I'm going to do this!! Sounds like Nolah and Kolah will love this as they are huge lovers to mealworms and seeds

Re: Dwarf Snacks
Er... Maybe buy some for the hams? We bought ours exclusively as a hamster treat, they're so cheap we really didn't mind.

Re: Dwarf Snacks
We've made Nolah and Kolah some today!! We used hot water and porridge oats. We mixed it gogether until it no longer stuck to our hands. We then rolled it out onto a very small mount of flour. We then added some sunflower seeds, some seeds out of their mix, peanuts, and mealworms. We then cooked one in the oven at 180degrees /four minutes. The rest we put in the freezer to cook at a later time We haven't tried them out yet
