Sounds really good Mona. My lad is starting to get on now although he`s still only 17 months old. I will need to start thinking outside the box for simple foodstuffs that will add to his diet, epecially in the winter months. I feed both my syrian and robo dry buckwheat and if you didn`t already know, buckwheat can be cooked (warm water) or left in cold water overnight to soften the grains. These make a nice addition to porridge or even included in any mash type foods. Buckwheat keeps it`s triangular grain shape aswell and doesn`t turn to mush, which is nice. I buy a bag from Tesco but buckwheat is available from healthfood shops like Holland & Barratt. Tesco is probably cheaper though. I rinkle some into my dry mixes aswell and the boys love it. Here is a run down on the nutritional value of buckwheat if your interested:

Buckwheat has much nutritional value as a possible prebiotic (a carbohydrate that prompts the growth of “friendly” bacteria in

Angel hamster.you are better off mixing them together with water, not milk,as I think hammies are lactose intolerant,so just toe safe I always use water x

Did you get your bananas Racinghamster?! Xx
I had this discussion on another thread and the conclusion was that some Hams are lactose intolerant. We are pretty sure Angel is ok with milk as she has not shown an adverse reaction and of course you can get lactose free milk.

It tastes better to me with milk and mixed with mushed banana makes me tempted to have it for breakfast myself

Yeah that's a good idea to get the lactose free,I might pick sme up sometime yeah I bet it does taste much creamier with a bit of milk in instead of water. I was just airing in the side of caution with using the water xxx

Boris had his banana & oat smoothie last night while I was spot cleaning and it was gobbles in less than 30 seconds! His appetite seemed to pick up right after and he was in his dish scooping up the fresh food I had given him. Of course, I leaned over the dish whle he was rummaging and got hamster kisses along his back. I love giving him kisses! Not that he botheres he just trundles off back to his bed! There`s gratitude for you...
