I`m always looking at mixes for syrians in particular as I would like to give Boris as much variety as possible in a dry mix but without all the extruded biscuits, corn and alfalfa. Most basic hamster mixes all seem to be made up of these ingredients with no real imagination put into it. They can live on it, but to me they are just thrown together mixes that are basic and not very well thought out. The Burgess Supahamster Harvest seems at least to have more in it, but I still find I need to add more to it.

That`s what I would do Vlad. Purebred winter whites (from good breeders) will be healthier animals anyway, but it`s a bit of a guessing game nowadays as to whether russian dwarfs are actually pure winter white or hybrid, so it`s best to look at the food mix and remove most of the offending sugars just incase. Moderation is okay, but too much corn and starch isn`t.

Not entirely sure of all the thread, but Vlad - most of our dwarves manage syrian sized food fine
We break it up for our elderly and tiny robo, but even he can manage, just not as well as the others. So yeah, broken up syrian food should be fine - ours get syrian food and its rare anyone other than the one robo even gets it broken up.
