Default Tesco vs. Harry

I read somewhere that Tescos (normal, not value) food is pretty good... but is Harry Hamster better?
I've got a bag of each here at the moment, and the nutritional content and ingredients are very different - what percentage of protein, fibre, oil etc. is optimum for dwarf hamsters? (I know that they need low sugar, however neither bag states the sugar content)
I want to give them the best food possible - even if it means making a home made mix, which I do for my rats, mice and gerbils.

I'm not sure what the ingredients/nutritional breakdown is on the Tesco food, but HH has 19% protein with added vitamins as well as something most (if not all) other foods don't contain - a natural pre-biotic whish is supposed to maintain gut health. Given the Syrian hamster propensity for diarrhoea/tummy troubles I've always rather liked the sound of that.

I've always used HH and never had a hamster with diarrhoea or food related ill health so I'm happy with it and wouldn't change personally.

I'd go for Harry Hamster every time. The Tesco food is not bad compared to some I guess but (from memory) it is higher in sugar and has a slightly lower protein level (but it has been a while so may have got that wrong).
All mine get fed on a mix of Harry Hamster ad Hamster Heaven a complete pelleted food which is really good for faddy eaters.

when i first got hamsters i bought the "HARRY HAMSTER"food as i thought this was the most reliable and nutritous food to give to my hamster i then bought some cheaper food from a small general shop and found that it was just as good it looked the same as the other and the hamsters seemed to like it just as much ..........so i now buy this product more often

I've been using HH but to be honest Luna doesnt seem to like it, and leaves all the pellets. I've been looking round for something else but not had much luck so bought a small bag of cheap mix and mixed in in with the last bit of HH. Funnily enough Luna is eating a bit more of that, but I'm not happy feeding cheap mix (tho it may be fine) so I might try and gradually wean her back onto the HH, if I do it slowly enough, maybe she wont notice!

My hamsters seem to like sunflower seeds and peanuts best so ive got to make sure i see them eating other foods as well so they get a variety ..... They often leave the small green and orange ones they just dont seem to like them as much ...... But i suppose all children hate their greens .... awww well cant force them....
