Default Lentils and oats...?

This will be a quick question with, hopefully, a quick answer.

I have been looking through the feeding/nutrition part of the forum and lentils and rolled oats are mentioned a lot to add into bases or for making mixes but basically I want to know:

- what kind of lentils should I use? I have seen green and red and I'm sure there are others... or are they all the same?
- what are rolled oats? Can I use plain porridge oats that I would buy from a supermarket?
- are both of these ingridents safe for both dwarves and syrians?

Thanks in advance everyone

*sorry for the bombardment of questions recently, I'm doing as much research and preparing as possible *
