Re: What's your hamsters diet ?
I give my Russians P@H Muesli Mix, as that's what they were eating when I got them.
But as calabriataste said, Harry Hamster seems to be what everyone is recommending, so might give it a go.
As I've only just got them they are just on their mix, but will be giving fruit, veg, some porridge, millet, mealworms etc etc

Re: What's your hamsters diet ?
I feed Tiberius "Fiesta Max." In addition, I give him unsulfured raisins, dry papaya, raw almonds, various green leafy vegetables, FRESH cherry-tomatoes cherries blueberries apples grapes bananas, raw corn on the cob, string beans, carrots, and sometimes a bit of a Nature Valley granola bar.
I like to vary his diet. You never know what his system might be lacking. Also in the event that he needs some kind of special diet late in life, he will be used to me changing it up all the time. I'm frequently browsing the produce section of the supermarket and giving him new things. The list above seem to be his favorites.

Mealworms? Live? I can see how the protein would be good but aren't they vegetarian?
Also I think I should start buying Harry Hamster instead of Fiesta Max...

they are omnivores, I feed mine dried mealworms as mealworms have a nasty bite and I dont think my dwaves are smart enough to kill the meal worm before pouching it
They can also have pieces of chicken etc.
I read a study online and they respond much better to animal protein than they do to other forms of protein

I should have known. Animal protein is generally much more easily digested than vegetable protein. Many herbivores supplement their diet with small amounts of animal protein. Ron has been a bad hamster daddy
Do you think he would eat egg whites? I will try the dried worms.

I used to have Zebra Finches and the pet store owner advised me to feed them boiled egg whites. Once I did, the two finches VERY RAPIDLY became six finches! Evidently, they knew they had a good thing going!
Egg white is complete and balanced, and very easily digested. I will try this tonight! Thanks for the advice, everybody!!!
