Sounds like you will have a tough time giving him back. I'm like that, I now have 4 hamsters (2 I got by accident as I offered to look after them till they are re-homed)

Have you got Aldi near you? I have seen a big (25cm) hamster ball in there for something like 3.99. I just thought I mention it just in case something unfortunate would happen to his original ball - like fall down the stairs and straight out the front door only to be run over!

Or, what you can do is go to the pet-shop and buy the biggest wheel for him you can find (even the noisier once can be quietened by putting some vaseline or a sellotape on the easel)

Good luck with the looking after and maybe post a pic of peanut for us to see!

I will, I think she is due back in the next day or two and I know I will be so upset if she wants him back. I just have to consol myself that is big and healthy so she must be happy. I am just keeping absolutely everything crossed...I have big plans for him which if I get to keep him I'll tell you all about if it happens.

Taking some piccies over the weekend so I will post them next week and also hopefully let you know whats happening

I do know what you mean re other animals, I would have a complete menagerie if I had the chance (its how I ended up from 2 guineas to 6 in 18 months..oops!). I used to bring back all sorts of animals as a kid, the best was when I was about 12 and riding a friends pony I spotted a huge wood pigeon which had a broken wing, I took it home on the back of the pony with me to fix it up! It went to a wildlife rescue and was fine but it was very funny. Pony was fine about it too!

I do want to say though, that despite what happens, everyone here has been so helpful, its opened my eyes to the gorgeous world of hamsters and the lovely people in it, I am now a huge fan and I hope one will come into my life soon if Peanut does go home.... thank you so much.

Sounds like your hooked - I was a bit like that too.
always wanted a hammie but not allowed soonas I moved out went and got one and not been without one since. though I got three at the moment!! its a bit of a handful.

I wish I oculd let mine roan about but its a little to dangerous and they no how to escape out of the 'playpen'

Sammi my syrian, has a huge ball that she loves and will glad go off round the house. (think it was designed for ferrets) Tho slightly concerned over the non use of balls - I've never had any problems with them so far. Are the safe to use if the backs not bent

SO we have a reprieve for a month or two I believe So I have bought a ferret sized exercise ball and thrown away the other. I know that there is some debate around how healthy they are but he is so happy in his that at 18 months I think its just better to keep him happy.

I will try to post some piccies over the next few days but I really hope he gets to stay forever!

Yes and he seems so happy! He snuggled up last night and practically fell asleep on me...shortly followed by a mad scrambling and need to frantically run around and run off all those additional calories he'd been eating all evening!
