Versele Laga Hamster Food

Hi.

I am feeding my Syrian Bailey this Hamster food and my Chinese Noodle the Mini Hamster version.

Noodle is new so still settling in but has been eating bits.

Bailey loves it and eats it all

I tried a couple of other brands with Bailey before settling on this food - i am just so impressed with it and if the condition of Bailey is anything to go by 'it's the best hamster food in the whole world'

I know Chinese are prone to getting diabetes so i only give Noodle his dry food and mini pieces of carrot, brocali, kale and other vegetables a few times a week but no fruit - that sound o.k?

Carrot is also not good for the diabetes prone.

what veg shall i stick to then with the Chinese?

I know Fluffymunchkins was going to get a chinese hamster but had to change her plans as he had diabetes (she ended up with the gorgeous Bacardi). I think she also said the breeder had no previous history of diabetes, it just came up. So I think they are diabetes prone.

Apparently chinese diabetes is usually genetic, whereas hybrid/campbell diabetes is caused by sweet things
But I try and keep sweet things to a minimum for all my dwarves

Yes Chinese hamsters are prone to diabetes like campbells, but as said with Bacardis brother it did just 'pop up' in the line. But I'm still extra careful just in case as its such a close relation.

The diet sounds fine to me, I find bacardi enjoys bell pepper aswell

I use the mini hamster mix also, but I take out most of the the sunflower seeds because my hamster would get really fat with them!
