Default Mix or Pellets?...

I used to give my hamster Vitakraft, but she used to only eat what suitet her and leave most of the food. Anyhow my friend used to feed her hamster a kind of pellets, and he was very fat and healthy. He used to pluck out of his mix as well so she changed to pellets.

My question is, Mix or Pellets for my new Ham?

I think a mix is more stimulating for them, pellet food seems very boring. If you have a very picky hamster, try feeding every other day or every 3 days - as long as there are still bits in the bowl you shouldn't feel mean.

My answer - Both

Its best to try out different brands of mix feeds as some just don't suit certain hamsters. But if you are finding hes too picky and loosing condition as a result then mixing in a pellet food half and half with the mix would be great

Using just pellet food i feel is a bad idea as already said it is boring, but also could potentially cause them to loose appetite and condition.
I use 1/2 harry hamster, 1/4 science selective pellets, 1/4 mix of bird seeds, oats and lentils.

I tried out the pellets as treats first and they adore them, so i feel confident that the picky eaters are still getting the necessary nutrition even if they leaving some of the other food as the pellets contain it all.

I say pellets... most of the time ;D, even though it seems boring your hamster will not be able to be picky and will get all he needs if you use a good brand. I used to give my hamster mix on the weekends, so that there was still a bit of flavor but she would always have pellets on the weekdays that will make sure she has all she needs to stay healthy. :3
oh btw I suggest kay-tee (is that how it is spelled?...)
