Best Hamster Food (Regardless of Price)
What is the best hamster food, on the market (in the UK), for a Syrian hamster? Regardless of the price.
I've already got a bag of Pets at Home food however I would like to eventually switch over to a higher quality food (I know this takes time and you have to do it gradually).

I'd say Harry Hamster, it's a lot healthier than other brands and provides lots of different tastes for the hamster; corn, pellets etc.

I second Harry Hamster. I add a few other seeds too.

I would normally buy mine from the local "Farm" shop I guess you could call it, sells coal, pet food, paraffin, potatoes, veg, dog leash, etc etc!

I'd say Science Selective with added things like trill bird seed and lentils

Isn't the Science Selective just pellets?

Re: Best Hamster Food (Regardless of Price)
You can get Harry at Wilkinsons stores.
We make our own mix which the hammies seem to like
We use a bag of Harry, a bag of Wilko's own mix, Purina chicken kitten biscuits, some science selective, bulgar wheat, linseed, pearl barley, sunflower hearts, wild bird mix, driend mealworms and other bits I can't remember. Mix it all well and feed every 3 days to encourage them to eat a bit of everything.
There is no best food really to be honest. The best food is the one your hamster likes and eats well and is healthy on.
I would avoid mixes with added sugars though. These are often hidden as sugars like fructose and maltose on the ingredient list.
