Default How often should I feed my hamster nuts?

I know I shouldn’t feed him nuts all the time because they are high in fat. But I can’t find anything online that says how often I should feed him. It always just says “not often.” I read once about a half a nut every other week. But that doesn’t seem like a lot.

Also here is a list of nuts I’ve read are good for them. If anyone knows of anymore please feel free to share. Also I know you shouldn’t feed them almonds.
Beechnut
Brazil nut
Cashew
Chestnut
Hazelnut
Macadamia nut
Peanut
Pecan
Pistachio
Walnut

I just feed mine peanuts and pistachio nuts in the shells as they enjoy opening them up

I don't know of any other nuts.... and I didn't know that about almonds so thanks!

Oh and I forgot to say I give them a nut every 2 days or so. But it is mainly for them to have fun getting into them, they don't usually eat them all and they are syrians

Hi there, what's wrong with feeding almonds? Are they poisonous? I'm worried, because Isobel has been eating flaked almonds

I think almonds are ok to feed but there is something in the almond shells that is poisonous to hamsters?

i think its something about trace amounts of cyanide or something? saw that somewhere but unsure whether it's true,
i'm sure isobel is fine though, it might be that people recommend you dont feed them it as a 'better safe than sorry' kind of thing

The bit about cyanide is in Hamster Central Wiki, according to that, almonds are safe to feed as long as they are not in their shell: Safe and Unsafe Food and Plants - Hamster Central WIKI

They are not poisonous. Most likely your hamster is ok. I think if something was wrong with the almonds she ate you would know by now.

Here is what I found online about it:
"Never feed your hamster almonds, because there is a chance that you may give your hamster a bitter almond, which is high in cyanic acid, and can be deadly to a small animal."
Here is the website. It's under "Extra protein" at the very end.
Pet Info Packets :: Hamsters

So not all almonds are bad. But like someone else said, I would rather be safe then sorry.
