Re: Supreme Science Selective
Basically it's meant to be a marrow bone type treat?
they have brown centres with a white/cream layer on the outside.. sort of like a hammy sausage roll,
http://www.mypetuniverse.co.uk/images/T/537963.jpg
they're hard so it's good for their teeth too..
I realise that you want her to have a stable diet, and not be fattened up on treats, but until she's fully grown you need to keep her energy up.
An alternative is that you could take away her honey stick, give her the bare minimum, and check her store? I realise this sounds harsh..but hamsters can get spoilt easily.
(on the markie front, sandy and pillow took a week and a half to eat theirs, alfie, 3 weeks....the new chinese hamster? One night.. O.O)

Re: Supreme Science Selective
She's running round her cage fine she doesn't seem to have an energy issue, if anything she has an attention deficit! I've already tried pushing her into eating the stuff she doesn't like and that just resulted in a worrying amount of food being left. And starving her into eating what she doesn't like would be bad as if her digestive system were to stop it wouldn't start again.
Are markies those things you give dogs usually?
Edit: 'duh Fearn read the whole post yes they are!)
Also I realise that it's likely Fudge would start eating whatever there was before it got to such a drastic stage but it's really not something I'd like to test...

Re: Supreme Science Selective
Yeah, but they're ok for hamsters..I'm lucky in that I have a dog already, so had them in the cupboard. >.<
She seems an ok weight.. apparently hamsters instinctively know what foods/vitamins they need..and will eat accordingly.
I can't remember where I read that though >.<
Since I can't find a source I'd disregard that though..

Re: Supreme Science Selective
I just bought some supreme science selective today
I'm starting off just as treats, and so far Treo and Porridge love it, Bacardi isn't up yet
I'm planning to move Bacardi and Treo onto half this, half my homemade harry hamster mix with extras. They are getting very fussy with the harry hamster so i'm hoping it'll help but i certainly wouldn't but them fully on this. (Porridge eats his food very well so he doesn't need to be changed)
I'll update this thread in future to let people know how it works out

Re: Supreme Science Selective
I found my hamster was getting picky too. I got him some of the heart shaped mono-food and added a few to his usual P@H museli mix. He picked them out right away and seems to prefer them. I will continue the 50/50 mix of the biscuits and the museli mix. The only problem is the heart shaped biscuits STINK!

Re: Supreme Science Selective
That's odd, I'd assume different parts of the mix constitute different nutritional requirements so it seems, yeah odd... I've taken to just putting in a couple of SS for her to munch on and she seems to like them, they're usually the first things to go!
