Baby Food?
Anyone know if baby foods are okay for adult hamsters? I know some have used it for baby hamsters, but never heard of it with adults.
If it is, maybe as a frozen treat (Freezing it in the freezer, kind of to make it like a popsicle or icecream) or raw?

Re: Baby Food?
I'd say raw..I think giving it to them frozen would make the hamster cold, and they wouldn't be used to having frozen food in the wild.
Although, you can freeze the left over baby food, put it in an ice cube tray in hamster size portions and thaw it when you come to give it to them.
They're fine for adults I believe, as long as there is no added onion, garlic, sugar (I think there's more but I can't remember)

Spices! It shouldnt have any spices in either. That looks fine though Malory. Some people do give it frozen in hot weather to try and keep their hamsters cool. It is also ok to give warm too

Re: Baby Food?
To make the baby food last longer you can freeze it in an ice-cube tray and then heat it in the microwave when you need it (obviously make sure it cools down before feeding to your hammy).
I think it was FM who gave me the idea so all credit goes to her haha

Re: Baby Food?
I give my hammies baby food, I share it between the two of them and they get about 3 meals each out of a small jar. I have given it to them warm but only luke warm so they dont burn themselves xxx

Re: Baby Food?
Awesome, thanks guys.
Glad to hear they are okay. 1.) A little treat for my hammies. 2.) If you see my post in healthcare, for if I ever take in any toothless hammies. :]

Re: Baby Food?
I give my hammies baby food but of the powdered variety, oat breakfast and another similar one with banana. You can make up as much as you like and a box lasts for ages and has a very long sell by date. My hamsters love it, especially the old one and I think it helps to give her the 'extras' she needs in her dotage!
