I'm sure it doesn't and I'm just being paranoid, I think nutrition and diabetes in dwarfs is a gray area, and many people have differing opinions. I just feel better doing it for my hams and suggest it to other people with dwarfs, for that reason. But I think its personal preference really. If the hamster has been diagnosed with diabetes, then definitely, yes, it should be removed. But I don't think its absolutely necessary to do it as a precaution. I just do it for prior stated reasons
