Default White Russian handling help!

Hi!

I am a first time hamster owner and have what I believe is a hybrid White Russian. I've been trying to get her used to handling/petting as the sales assistant advised us that in her previous home she was with young children who would poke and prod at her and she would bite, therefore making her a bit more skittish. She will take treats through the bars of her cage, is not alarmed by a hand in the cage and will take treats from in my hand. However, she HATES being touched. I saw somewhere that a good way to introduce a hamster to being stroked and touched is with a toothbrush, which I have attempted, however she just darts away from it or bites at it quite aggressively.

Does anyone have any advise on how to get her more used to touching?

Thanks!
