Aww, they are lovely pictures. It is just so touching how you and Cupcake have such a bond that she can communicate so well with you.

I've snuck in a pet here and there since getting her, but tonight Cupcake let me pet her for a good 3-4 minutes straight. She was munching a pumpkin seed at first, but forgot midway through. I'm glad she actually enjoyed it, she was melting for a bit and getting droopy eyed!

Then after she remembered about the seed and finished it, I gave her a second one. She immediately turned around in place to clearly show me, "no more!". Seems like that's the limit for our evening interaction, it's always much less than in the morning. Cupcake's getting more vocal each day too, lots of happy chirps this evening. I can't wait to see her with the new wheel, at least the existing one is at a decent speed for her until it arrives

How lovely you could pet Cupcake! That must have been such a special moment. It is interesting how she is more interactive in the morning then the evening.

Every female dwarf who's lived here was a morning or daytime hamster. Gertie sat by her door at 08.15 today, waiting for me to let her out.

Funny how they let us know when they had enough of us humans and want to get on with the important hamster stuff.

I had no idea dwarf hamsters liked the daytime. Aw, Gertie is so cute.

I ended up going with a transparent one, thinking she might like to see anything approaching her enclosure.

Gertie sounds like a charmer, maybe the female dwarf hamsters are just hard partiers? It's sweet they stay up to say hi to us

The Niteangel is here! Cupcake is so freaking smart, she seemed to feel something special was happening today. She was up an hour earlier than usual, it's the first time she's ever been up and looking around when I came home.

The Queen was watching me put it in from inside her castle, and didn't come out until I was done. I think her initial impression is a good one, she seems to like the middle spindle being gone, and we were both impressed how quiet & smooth the wheel spins. I'm also using the box to make her a platform so she can tunnel under and around it like she used to with the old wheel. She was looking for her old tunnel to the castle.

She started squeaking after, and climbed over the climber toy the human way right to me. Cupcake also played with her other toys a little before coming back to my hands, I think she's showing me she likes it and appreciates her other stuff. I've never seen her this happy, she's squeaking up a storm, climbing all over my arm, and let me pet her a ton.

She did go back to bed to get the rest of her sleep in, but I expect she's going to be absolutely zooming tonight in an hour when she's up. I also need a hamster cam, my phone isn't cutting it and I had to put it down while she was all over me. Wish I had it on tape, it was so precious.
