Meet Cupcake

It was so lovely to see Cupcake take a treat from you. She looks so cute. She is a little fluff ball. I am sorry she tried to bite you. I hope it did not hurt.

I was wondering if she wanted out of bin time. It can be hard to tell with some hamsters. I offer Scottie his taxi anyway and then let him decide.

You nailed it, she wants out of bin time. Cupcake was pretty friendly again today, this time with no bites or nibbles. She does seem to like me giving her treats in her sandbath, I take it as a good sign she interacts in her favorite spot with me. Afterwards she was pawing at the corner again. I wanted to keep it slow since it's been mostly a month with little interaction, but the Queen wants what she wants, when she wants it.

I'm tidying up the room, and will make some new toys & hides for her. Most importantly, blocking not just the bottom of the door, but the hallway outside so we don't have a repeat of her escape last month.

Here's hoping it goes well, if she wants again it tomorrow the hamster taxi will pick her up! It's great to see her again, I missed the little girl so much

Aw how lovely. If it is difficult to set up your room then you could get one of those fold up play pens. I look forward to seeing if she comes out tomorrow.

I do have one of those, her first outing early in the thread was in it. There's something about my room she just absolutely loves though. The room itself is great for a hamster, the only two spots I have to worry about are the crack under the door and the bottom slot of the electric heater. They're easy enough to block

Its great your room is easy to hamster proof. Mine is impossible. I look forward to seeing if Cupcake explores soon.

Cupcake came out again tonight, and wanted a treat. I'm not sure I was welcome in the sand bath though, she started leaving. I set my hand next to it and she hopped on. She isn't completely used to handling anymore. I got a nibble when she felt a bit unsteady. I thought she was all done, went over to her wheel, and walked a few steps.

Then she just stared like she was looking into my soul and scurried over. She started pawing at the corner for me like mad, and went right into the taxi. We had a short adventure, she climbed all over me and pulled out a sunflower seed while on my lap. Just sat there for 5 minutes and chomped away. When she wanted to go down, I missed a cue where she squeaked and nibbled. I thought it was Button squeaking down the hall, havent heard a Cupcake squeak in ages. She bit me, but then we worked out lifting her to the floor.

It was a good, short adventure and no escapes. I didn't film, wanted all of my focus and both hands ready. She's comfortable being out in her bin the past few days, hopefully we can keep restoring trust together.

This is so so cute! It is lovely Cupcake is interacting with you again. I think it is a good idea you did not film but totally focused on her.

Now if only she would stop biting. I would love to get a good look at her teeth, I'm guessing they're overgrown? Cupcake has never bitten me before, until coming out of this month long hiding spell. They're pretty borderline, I think they're just her normal nibbles. Even re-watching that video, it doesn't seem like she's really going for a bite.

She is really enjoying the apple twig sprays with the herbs on them, hopefully that helps. Maybe Cupcake's teething? She has such a big personality, it's easy to forget she's only been here a short time.

Do you give her wimzees? They are the only chew Orko will touch. Perhaps Cupcake would like one. I buy the xs ones.
