hamster tumor...
i've recently noticed my hamster may have a tumor, its a,, fairly big red thing on her stomach
im not sure what the best course of action could be, im going to call the vet as soon as they open for me,
i never noticed it before,, somehow? but it does seem that it, might have been around for a while but,, she managed to keep it hidden from me?
i know a course of action could be, taking her to the vet for a possible surgery... or if its too far gone or if shes in pain, i might need to put her down... whatever would be best for her
does, anyone have any advice they could give in this time, im going to call the vet too,, but, any help or thoughts would be very helpful

Re: hamster tumor...
If it’s come up suddenly it may be an abscess or cyst rather than a tumour but you won’t know until you’ve seen the vet & there isn’t really anything you can do meantime.
I hope you can get an appointment as soon as possible & it isn’t anything too seriouss.

JenJ, is there another vet that you could get a phone consultation with?

Re: hamster tumor...
Can you ask a friend or family to help with transport? I know it can be hard asking people for help sometimes but I am housebound so I have to rely on help for vet visits with my hamsters. Also, are you on facebook or another social media where they have local community groups, you might be surprised that someone close by may be willing to help you.
Goodluck and I hope you can find a solution to get your hamster the care it sounds like it needs.

I totally get that, it is just me and my hams too. Honestly, if you can I do encourage you to reach out to some people, I know it can be scary but there are really nice people in the world that would help I am sure. Also, it could be worth ringing the vets as they may be able to do a payment programme for you, or if you are in the UK and on benefits I believe the blue cross may be able to help you.
