Taming/Bonding Update

Over the passed couple of days I’ve noticed how realaxed he’s been around me, its been great! I’ve also noticed that he loves to sleep and isn’t big on exploring but, I’m sure he’ll come out of his shy shell soon! We haven’t made to much progress when I’m handling inside his cage so I’ve decided to use the bathtub method or rather on the bed method. Useing the bed method has really helped him get used to me! I’ve only been useing it for 2 days but have noticed big improvement!! I’m so proud of this little dude!

Do you guys remember how Libby reacted to celery? Well, I gave him a little red bell pepper and I got the same reaction lol! He took a nibble and spit it out right away and never touched or smelt it again! Haha! (Sorry for the random leg of a family memeber in the background)

Natural/German Theme!

I’ve always wanted to do a natural theme for my past ham Comet but never saw any good cork, java, drift, or grape vine wood in any of my local petstores (yes! I finally remembered not to put the company ) to put in his cage so the project went on hold. My local store finally decided to get all different types of wood which was a huge hit for me and lots of other pet owners! So, I’m starting my natural setup! I’m so exited and I’m sure Libby will love it! Thanks to everyone who read the whole thing and listened to me blabber on lol!

Hi everyone!
Libby has been enjoying his Natural cage so much! He really enjoyed exploring it which was very sweet for me to watch! He really enjoyed foraging for sown of his food too! Last night we made a really big brake through, he climb on my hand inside the cage with no treats or anything and decided to wash himself on it! He was just so sweet! I still can’t believe how scared and frighten he was when I dirat brought him home. Okay, enough blabbering. This is him chewing on some food from his cork log (I’ll get some more photos of his cage later). I realize how small the photo is and I apologize, it is cute though!

That last photo is too cute, those eyes! Really nice that he chose to wash himself on your hand, that’s such a special moment. Would love to see Libby’s cage if/when it’s done too!

Really sweet photos of your lovely boy! Good to hear how well taming & bonding is coming on & that he's enjoying his natural set up now.
They can be so funny with veg sometimes but I would persevere, he may suddenly change his mind or you'll find out with time what his favourites are.

Hello everyone! I am greatly sorry for ignoring this thread! It’s been very busy the past couple of days.
Thanks mangoandmimi! It was so special! He is now climbing on my hand in the cage with no problem now!
Thanks cypher! I have tried to give him a bit of pepper again and he still ingnores it (I’ll be giving it to him when we have it in the house)! He was that way with peanuts too but now it’s one of his favorite things to work at!

I had to keep his mug in the cage! He loves it so much! The mushroom kinda matches the theme lol!

He loves to hang out in his cork log and big sand pit (there is a tad of eco earth which is couconut fiber). Disclaimer: I tested how Libby reacted to the plastic tray the sand and he dosen’t care about it. I would remove it if there was any biting.

Libby's cage looks really nice, they do love cork tunnels! The plastic tub should be fine, one of min e has one for one of his sand baths & has never chewed it at all.
I would keep an eye on the coconut fibre as it really retains water & once wet takes forever to dry & can encourage mould growth if you're not careful. It might be better to just stick to sand in the sand bath & make it nice & deep for digging & rolling in.

I absolutely love Libby's natural set up it looks so exciting and fun for him and the mushroom is such a cute touch. Libby himself is extremely cute and i think it's great that you're bonding so well with him.

The cage looks lovely, really like the mushroom too. I’ve never actually had a problem with eco earth and think it makes a great digging pit, but I did clean it out quite often, more often than sand (it turned into a toilet).
