Winter white or Campbell or hybrid?
My rescue came finally home, but....not sure what her breed is.
Or if she's a winterwhite at all. Maybe a campbell? A hybrid?
On a Dutch forum somebody suggested an campbell. I did notice that her tail was relativly long. She was also very territorial at her former home, very bitey.

She looks to be a Hybrid. She's not a WW as you don't get any WW with that coloration. I can't say I've seen a Campbells like that either and the shape doesn't look quite right for either type.
Whatever she is though she's a gorgeous little hammy.

Now I can look for food specially mixed for either campbell's/hybrids.

I believe the Bunny Dwarf Hamster range which should be available in the Netherlands is a good food for them - https://bunny-nature.com/products.en#.zt

Re: Winter white or Campbell or hybrid?
Thanks! I shall try that one out in my next Zooplus haul. Buit is kind off expensive, at 7 euro's for only 600 grams.
But, I've found mixes from Mixerama that are a bit cheaper but also fully natural.
I even have to keep it in my fridge because of bug eggs and the like, but they really love it!

Re: Winter white or Campbell or hybrid?
This mix from Mixerama is probably the best, most of the others have a lot of grass seed in which they don't tend to be so fond of.
Depending on how different it is to what she's been eating I would change over very gradually.
Putting it in the fridge won't help with bugs etc, I put my food in the freezer for a week at least then keep it in the fridge.

Re: Winter white or Campbell or hybrid?
Yes, freezer was the word I was looking for! I keep it frozen in there too, but I somehow thought 'fridge' was the right word there for a moment.
The Myps mix looks interesting. I will have to sit down next week and browse through it all.
She's been eating Versele laga hamster nature, I think it's called. I think she likes it, but its kinda big

Re: Winter white or Campbell or hybrid?
I did wonder if you meant freezer
Versele laga isn't a very healthy mix even though she seems to be enjoying it I'm sure she'd do better on something healthier, if she's used to that kind of food though I think some of the other dwarf mixes on Mixerama would be just too different for her to adjust to, the Myps has plenty of variety & less of those tiny seeds they tend to ignore if they can & it would probably be easier for her digestive system to adjust to although I'd still go slow with introducing the new food.

Re: Winter white or Campbell or hybrid?
I am not a fan of the versele laga mix, either. To big and...eh sad to say it's probably one of the 'better' petstore brands over here. The miniversion is also not very good. It's what her former owner gave her, so I guess I will keep it going for a short while.
There's a mix called Clamaziz campbell mix, but not sure if that's a good one.
I will try the Myps version some day for sure.
I thought that diabetes could be an issue with hybrids? So, that's also a thing to consider with food...

Re: Winter white or Campbell or hybrid?
I wouldn't go for the Clamaziz campbell mix, at 14 months old (I think you said in the other thread?) I think this would be too drastic a change in diet for her to cope with, it is largely very small grass seeds, I was sent some by mistake once & I know there is no way my hams would be happy to eat that or thrive on it as it is so different to what they're used to & mine have never even had a commercial mix.
The other mix I mentioned is absolutely fine for diabetes prone species. I have brought it before, just out of interest really to see what it was like & used a little mixed in with my normal mix & it does look good (smells great!) & the hams seemed to enjoy it.
