Thumbs up Would this be alright for two dwarfs?

I was thinking of keeping two dwarfs in a Syrian hamster cage. All I will change is the wheel.

. Two dwarf silent wheels
. A width tank of 47cm
. From the top to the bottom 50cm

Thanks I just really want two dwarfs. I also have another spare cage (made for dwarfs) so if they fight one can go in th

You measure a cage from the size of the base. Not the height, that is irrelevant. The minimum is 360 square inches in the US, though many people go bigger. In england the recommended size for a single dwarf is 70 x 40 and the recommended for a pair is 80 x 50(the same as a syrian). That cage is not even 360 square inches so it is not suitable for 1 dwarf, definitely not two! x

For a pair I'd actually reccomend a minimum of 70cm by 40cm and I know others who find smaller again can be best. I would never go below 60cm by 40cm though and I personally think 70cm by 40cm or bigger is best as it gives the hamsters more space. My own pairs are in 100cm by 50cm cages but this can be too big for some pairs.

You also need more than just two wheels to keep a pair successfully and relatively safely, you need a layout where no hamster can get cornered anywhere, all toys to have at least two entrances and exits, depending on the pair its sometimes best to have at least two of each toy, and generally you need to avoid shelves and modular cages too. These rules can be flexible with certain pairs/groups but I'd follow them really, really carefully to start and only start bending the rules when you're more sure of your own pair and their relationship.

Scatter feeding is great too, and I never give treats inside the tank. Boys have two food bowls (though I scatter feed) and two water bottles. Kyrillion makes some good points too.
