my male is about 9 months old and the female is around 5 months - it's not that I don't have room for babies but I don't know if my male is a hybrid, not knowing his genetic back ground would probably make it a daft thing to do - what do you think LMDH?

Thank you all for your help this far, I really appreciate it and I'm not rushing into anything.

VERY, VERY daft. Don't do it. Its highly likely that he's hybrid (unless you got him from a very reputable breeder - such as Duncton or Tristar) which could result in all sorts of problems with any babies health such as head tilt, etc...

well you KNOW I didn't get him from anyone reputable unless you consider being dumped at the RSPCA reputable!!

I just feel sorry for him being on his own, but I guess that's the way it's going to have to be

Ah, I didn't realise you meant Mika. Just give him lots of cuddles and attention and he'll be fine. I make sure that my lone dwarfies get extra cuddles. Mika's sister Snowdrop seems fine on her own - she's comes out for cuddles and monkey nuts when she hears my voice, and she has ball time (when she wants it) and she seems quite a happy little girl.

I've had loads of WWs be single through fighting, sometimes they look a bit down or a couple of days or weeks but in no time they're back to their normal selves. I'm sure Mika doesn't mind being alone. I know its easy to apply human emotions to them, but they don't feel lonliness without their own kind like we do!

the funny thing is that it didn't bother (or worry me) when he wasn't tame but he's so friendly these days it just seems sad he's on his own, but you're all right of course he's not sad or he'd shrivel up and die which he's certainly NOT doing he is very much full of the joys bless him.

you're right, he's a hammie and a happy one at that
