Default This is my rescue Pearl WW - Mika

This is Mika, I've had him for a few months now after I saw him on the local RSPCA's website and fell in love with him - I don't actually "do" hamsters (I breed and show guinea pigs!) but I'm totally smitten!!

So smitted in fact that I've just adopted 2 robos

He didn't come from the RSPCA Medway West branch, did he? ???

If he did, I actually have his little sister Snowdrop that I got from them a few months ago (they had a brother and sister and I could only home one of them - it was a tough choice!)

Does this mean that we're related?

Yes, Snowdrop's a Pearl as well. These are the only photos I have of her so far - they're not great but the little monkey isn't keen on having her picture taken at all.

All I know about our little darlings' parents is that apparently their owner had to go into hospital so she was worried that her two WWs would get lonely on their own so she put them in together - and surprise surprise, Snowdrop and Mika were the result! I'm not aware that they were any other babies in the litter (if there were, they weren't given to the RSPCA).

This is just so cool!

Yes we are officially twins

Totally neat that we have 1 each, we must stay in touch and see how they progress both of them - does Snowdrop live on her own? I guess she must as she was the only girl.

Mika is pretty happy on his own but he's really quiet, when I first got him I thought he was dying because he's really not up more than about an hour out of 24 which really worried me.

But he's waiting for me every morning when I get up now and has a little trot round in his ball and a walking / running / jumping sort of "cuddle" he's getting friendly but no more active!

Anyway here's a rare moment of activity!!!

Mika's a little cutie. Just like his sister! Yes, we must definitely stay in touch.

Snowdrop lives on her own too. I have two WW boys (Dietrich and Hogan) and I'd love her to live with them but until someone invents the "hamster snip", I guess it won't be possible as I don't want to risk babies without knowing her genetic background (I know the boy's background but not Snowdrop's). They've been alongside each other in separate playpens and it all seemed very friendly. Bit sad really.

She's a quiet little girl but a real little sweetie. I nearly lost her inside the frame of my sofa when I'd only had her for a few days so since then, playtime is a little bit more restrictive. She tends to pop out during the day (I work from home sometimes so whenever I'm there, she likes to come and sit on my desk and "help" or snuggle up into my dressing gown if its still early) but she doesn't get up in the evening until very late - and even then, its usually only to shuffle into her critterbath!

Does it make me sad that I can't wait to get home and tell her I've found her brother?!!

Wow! It's a small world as they say

Mika is lovely - named after the singer of the catchy songs and same name, I assume?

no you're not "sad" if anything I am because I already told Mika I "found" his sister

He's not named after the singer Mika although I love him too, it's just that he needed an Icelandic-type name and Ivan the Terrible really didn't suit him lol
