Default Reintroducing

Hey guys. My brother got two hammies the 20th of December, and they getting along quite adorably until about the new year. One, Nugget is a sunfire and significantly bigger than the other, and is completely silent. The other, Penguin, is a bit of a noise maker, especially when she got squished by her fat cagemate.

The two were fighting (i think just play fighting) quite a bit, but they didn't split up to different parts of the cage, and always ended up sleeping together in the burrow. We went out to lunch on new year's eve and came home and I witnessed Nugget try to go into the main cage, where Penguin was, and when she poked her head out of the tunnel Penguin shrieked and ran off, and I saw a dark red spot was on Nugget's nose.

They have been separated for about four weeks. We have tried holding them and putting them into contact with one another, which results in Penguin squeaking and recluding into my hand, and Nugget will attempt to rear up on his hind legs like some sort of battle stance.

I would love to see them getting along the way they were before but I'm not sure that It's possible. Any suggestions?

You are best to keep them separate now because it sounds like they don't want to live together and one feels bullied.
They will be quite happy alone so don't let them meet anymore as it is stressful for both to see the other one and feel afraid.

If they are happily living alone then there is no reason for another to be introduced.
It is possible, but very unlikely that it will be any different to introducing them to each other.
