Default 3 robo males together, help

Hi
I'm thinking about getting three robo males from the same litter. My question is, will they get along?
Thanks

If they are from the same litter there is a very good chance that they will get along without any significant fighting or squabbling. Are you getting them for a breeder or pet shop and have they been accurately sexed as males?
I have a lot of experience with Robos and I would say that they are best kept in either groups of 2 or 4. Odd numbers tend not to work aswell because 1 of the Robos will always be left out.

Other things you need to consider are what sort of cage they are being housed in? Multi levels will not really work because they can get territorial and fights may develop. You also need to have THREE wheels in the cage because they will need one each. Food will need to be scattered around the cage and not in a food bowl.
You will also need to make preperations incase fights do break out. This means having a second cage ready and equipped. Vets bills will also need to be taken in consideration. My biggest advice would be to get just the two Robos because from my experience, they are far happier in pairs.

please contact me if you need any help or advice.

Hi, I agree with mickbirch, i had 3 robo boys together but unfortunately the smallest one was bullied and left out, which led to his death More likely to get on if in even numbers. My two other robo's were completely inseparable and got on very well.

If taking 2 will leave one alone for life (rather than the breeder keeping him with Dad), then i'd go for the three. I've had a couple of trios, one of them worked fabulously they did everything together (including trying to run 3 at a time in one wheel and ignoring the two empty ones!), the other there would often be one hamster left out, but he was a "quieter" hamster and the isolation seemed to be something he chose to do when awake as he slept with the others, though of course we can't really know how they are feeling. Like Mick I normally try to keep even numbered groups though due to the "pairing off" tendancy.

With regards to feeding, I always use a foodbowl for groups - if there's more than 2 then I use 2 food bowls, I like to be able to keep an eye on how much food is being eaten. Same with water bottles - more than 2 hams get 2 bottles, just in case they all decide to drink at once.

Toy and house wise, make sure anything they can get inside in has more than one entrance, that way two couldn't block the other in at the back. Add toys one at a time, and allow them to adapt rather than suddenly filling the cage with things they can each claim. I would also suggest a single level cage, to be on the safe side.

When you clean out, adding around 1/4 of the soiled (avoid the wet corners) substrate back helps keep the scents constant, and removes that as a fight trigger, and never cleaning everything (cage and toys) at once. I would get them a large enough cage that a bi-weekly cleaning is suitable, then you can clean the cage one week, the wheels etc the next week.
