Re: Little Pico
So very sorry about Pico. It's incredibly hard for you, but it sounds like he passed peacefully at home in his nest. He's playing free over the rainbow bridge now and free from pain. They leave a big hole in your life but in time you have the happy memories,
I find it helps to cover the cage with a blanket until you're ready to clean it out so it's not upsetting to see. I'm sure another hamster, perhaps a very different one, will soon bring you laughter again. They don't replace the one that's passed, but they're a new beginning.

Re: Little Pico
Yeah, I've found just actively avoiding looking at the enclosure has stopped me from non stop crying. Before Pico had passed, I spoke to someone about taking in a 6 month robo, who they would be bringing next week. Not sure I can stomach it now, feels like I unknowingly agreed to replace him. Or maybe it's better to give this one a chance at a new life? Maybe actually get rehomed, like the intentions I had for Pico before he displayed all of his stress signs.

Re: Little Pico
No hamster would ever replace Pico. If you felt able to care for this robo then it would be because you wanted to give them a safe place. If you do not feel ready then that is totally understandable. I do not think you should put any pressure on yourself.

Re: Little Pico
No, you wouldn't be replacing Pico but give another the chance of a good life.
Do what you feel is right for you. Above is only the way i see it.
