Re: Scottie
I removed everything from Scottie's cage today and cleaned out a couple of pee spots then took the bottle brush to the tubes. No signs of anything unsavoury i'm glad to report.
There's definitely an element of trust now. Scottie didn't get upset while in the playpen and he came running when i called him.
Once back home he checked that everything was where it should be and investigated something new.
Then we had a chat. He sat, looked at me and listened. And then it was time for another wash....

Re: Scottie
This morning i got the impression that Scottie was trying to tell me something, that something wasn't right.
Or maybe he was toying with the idea of out of cage time and found himself in a "shall i, shan't i" turmoil.
He run towards me when he saw or sensed me, i think his eyesight is pretty poor, run around, scratched and groomed a lot, nibbled on things and came to the front of his HH a few times.
I had to go out to collect hamsters and then take them to a rescue but will get Scottie out later and give him a health check. Will also check his cage. Couldn't see anything obvious amiss but it can be very hard to tell with dwarf hamsters.

Re: Scottie
This morning Scottie tried to climb out of his cage!
I held his mug in and he immediately climbed in so i put him in the bathroom with the door closed and quickly set up a playground in the hall.
Scottie had a very good run around and explored all the toys.
When he had enough he let me know so i picked up a tube he was in and tipped him onto my lap, picked him up and stroked him for a bit which was lovely for me and he didn't seem to mind.
I knew that he was at his most receptive for interaction in the morning but this took me by surprise.

Re: Scottie
Scottie decided that he wanted out tonight and walked into his taxi. He doesn't seem to mind the light and sniffed around when it was on but took off when i turned the small light on instead.

Re: Scottie
Scottie's HH was getting a bit miffy so i took everything out including Scottie. He sat behind the bathroom bin eating his packed lunch of sunflower seeds while i sorted everything out.
Found the source of the musky smell and should have known better. One of the tubes had been peed in. I normally exchange one at a time but replaced two with clean ones today since i had the cage out.
Once finished Scottie walked into his taxi mug and inspected everything. He was ever so good.
I put colourful Carefresh on top of the Kaytee but his place looks like a paintbox now.
I had no blue rings left when i exchanged the tubes so used the cerise rejects. Sorry Scottie. I'll wash the blue ones and sort them another day.

Re: Scottie
Scottie wanted out and almost climbed out of his cage!
He's zooming around the playground now, he's into everything and enjoying himself.
Scottie went back in his taxi when he wanted home and just sits in there now without trying to jump up the sides.
I'm amazed at this little Robo. He's grown so much in confidence to ask for out of cage time.

I don’t know much about Robos, but they are clearly little hamsters with a lot of character and big personalities. It’s fantastic that you can interact with Scottie as you do and he enjoys his out of cage time as much as the others, he’s such a cutie.
