I offered him his taxi every few evenings for the last month or so and he sniffed and hovered around it but didn't walk in. Since i moved his HH to the bedroom and could comfortably sit next to it chatting when he was up, he has become more confident.
Our four Syrians climb out of their front door every evening i'm home but for a Robo it is special to make this move.
Aside from the fact that i'm happy that Scottie had a good time out, i'm also ever so flattered that he showed this level of trust.

It is very special. It shows what a lovely bond you both have. Even him being out in the day and being happy to carry on as usual with you there is special.

Yes, we have a bond which took a long time to develop but it is an amazing experience when it happens.
I see it as a bonus when it includes me because i'm happy with whatever the hamster feels comfortable with.
I had a bond with dwarf Ozzy who was a hermit who did not want out of cage time or human interaction which was something i respected. It was only towards the end of his life when his ailments became unbearable that he did seek me out, to what i interpreted as looking for his human for help. That's when i realized that he had bonded with me as well but in a "as and when needed" Ozzy kind of way.

It is amazing and so touching. I am the same with animals in the sense I am fine if they do not want any interaction as long as they are happy.
Was Ozzy named after Ozzy Osborne? He sounds like a very special hamster.

My partner came up with the name and was going through a music phase (after Thomas the tank engine) so yes, Ozzy Osborne.
I caused a scene in a well known pet shop after the first lockdown when they insisted on selling dwarfs in pairs because they had too many of them. The manager then reversed this policy ( to shut me up i guess) and a customer bought one dwarf.
On impulse i took a "lucky dip" dwarf home. They put a box into the tank and whichever dwarf walked in was taken out and sold.
That's Ozzy. He loved his flying saucer but rarely used his upright wheel. He loved his Hamster Heaven but didn't like the large double bin cage i had him in before so he wasn't in the larger cage for long.

What a beautiful hamster! You are amazing to have got the shop to stop selling dwarfs in pairs. That is a huge achievement and a wonderful result. It was a lucky day for Ozzy when he walked into the box.

Re: Scottie
This morning Scottie was running around excitedly when he saw me and then asked for out of cage time! 20220808_065300.jpg
So i set up a playground and gave him the run of the hall and the bathroom. While i was in the bathroom brushing my teeth he run around my feet.
When he had enough he went between door and wall like he did last time and pawed the wall which is his way of telling me that he wants his taxi. Scottie walked into his hamster taxi mug and sat there while i carried him to his HH but i covered the mug with my hand of course.
Once home Scottie calmly walked through his cork log and disappeared into the substrate.

Re: Scottie
He has become more confident since i moved him into the bedroom. He's in a dim corner between wardrobe and chest of drawers and seems to like it there. Maybe the noise of three Syrians was too much for him and he was on a table that caught the light.

Re: Scottie
I am so happy to hear this. It is like he has really blossomed. I bet you hear his little paws on his wheel at night.
