I’m very sorry about your father, I’m lucky enough to be able to say I haven’t lost a parent but I’ve seen first had too many times how it can affect people. You won’t want to hear this now but it does get easier, I think in their own way they’ll always watch over you.

Hopefully having your hammies will help you through this difficult time, I’m glad Pip was home safe and just remember to stay strong, you’re doing great x

This is sad news about your father Serendipity. Having lost both of mine, I know what a difficult time this is for you.
Mightly relieved to hear that Pip knew what was best for him. Staying at home in the lovely set up you have for him. I had to put a note on my cage for a while reminding me to shut the doors properly as you never think you won’t do it.

I haven't updated on Pip for a while as have not been well for a while. Not Covid, but have been confined to the bedroom for a while with health issues. As a result I haven't seen Pip for a whole month! OH has been feeding him daily and says he still comes out regularly. Shame as I was just at the point of trying to start taming him, but never mind.

He had certainly filled out as he grew and ate well. And looked a little bit fluffier but has never been a really fluffy robo - sleeked back hair lol.

I shall be seeing him tomorrow though as will no longer be confined to the bedroom then. I wonder if he will recognise me. Will it be excitement and a welcome - or a sulk and a snub?

I'm so sorry to hear that you haven't been well and hoping that you're getting your strength back soon.

As for Pip - he'll reckognize your scent but hamsters aren't exactly known for enthusiastically greeting their human companions. We may get sniffed providing we offer something they want.

Rodney was positively staring at me earlier and no doubt checking that his freeroaming transport was on time tonight. He rattled his door before i had a chance to finish my dinner. No patience that hamster.

I really am sorry to hear how poorly you have been. I bet you cannot wait to see Pip again tomorrow and see any changes. He is adorable.

Were you able to watch Pip on your night camera during the last month? Also a good way to check that your OH cared for Pip the way he's accustomed to.

Thank you Cloudy and Ria. Yes that would have been good using the nightcam - unfortunately it had been temporarily unplugged for a while since the Christmas tree came down (same area) and I was stuck upstairs and couldn't remember where I'd put it. Not sure anyone else would be able to get it sorted anyway - while it just needs plugging in there is a bit of fiddling about getting it working at times. And it needs a pile of books on a side table and the side table pulling out. but yes that would have been good - although some of the time I wasn't well enough to think about it anyway!
