Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
Lovely to see Pip! He's filled out since he's been with you and looks a proper cute, round little Robo now.
Funny how he looks at you when you talk to him.
Where do you buy the small cheesy nibble sticks? I can't find them anywhere now.

Oh Pip is so cute! I love how he is watching you. He had quite the adventure in the play pen.

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
Ria that was the last stick I had! It's not cheesy but all the hamsters go potty for them. They're the Tiny Friends Yippees. Probably not that healthy but not particularly unhealthy either (the colours seem to be natural) and very good for their teeth. Mainly made from grains but the green ones have apple in and the orange ones have carrot in. I got them from Amazon but apparently Pets at Home sell them as well. If they have them in stock. Looks like I paid too much at Amazon! I bought some more but they're in the freezer for a week.

I'm not quite sure what Pip's long hard stares mean lol. Whether he is thinking, in shock, telling me he's annoyed with me or what! But when he sat in his wheel still - he sat like that for a good 5 to 10 minutes and didn't respond if I talked to him. I think he was weighing things up. And bear in mind he'd just got back into his cage and knew it had been messed with!
I think going into the playpen was a bit of a shock and I feel a bit guilty about that - maybe should have put him in something smaller first. But I think actually he just wanted to go to sleep at that time (early evening) and wasn't very active.
Our previous robo used to be up during the day a couple of times and enjoyed running round the playpen. Pip just sat there! Or hid. But later when he seemed more confident he was trying to climb the sides of the playpen.
Yes he does look like a proper robo now doesn't he? His fur is a lot better as well. He looked incredibly thin and almost greasy flat fur when he arrived and was also tiny - he has definitely grown.

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
Actually just realised the TV was on in the background (OH was watching) so maybe he was listening to that!

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
He is definitely less gregarious than Nugget used to be - out of the cage. Although Nugget was less bold in the cage. Nugget went straight to test out the flying saucer. Pip just went under it. So I put a bendy bridge next to it and he climbed up that a couple of times and onto the saucer, but then just climbed off again. It would be nice if I could make space for it in his cage so he gets the hang of a saucer.
In hindsight I'm not sure about them sharing the playpen. Raffy scent marks a lot, rubbing himself up against the sides, and is in it every night. That may have been a bit scary for Pip.
Also, last night, after Pip had been in there, Raffy was acting a bit strange in one corner. He kind of laid down with his head and chin propped up against the corner. He never lays down! Although it may have been heat affecting him possibly.

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
That's not a Yippee in the second photo next to the carrot house. It's the cheesy one with the green plastic hanger. My dwarfs adore those but they were discontinued in p@h. I have been searching everywhere for them and can't find them.
I know Yippees and the Robos like those.
Pip was listening to you not the telly.

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
Oh sorry - I had a yellow yippee in the cage - thought you meant that. Yes those are the rosewood cheesy chew sticks "Rodent mini sticks!. I also had trouble getting them. I got them quite a while back now. Probably from Amazon - they are hard to find now. Just checked and they're out of stock on Amazon.
I suspect they don't make them any more, possibly, and any in stock anywhere must be old stock. Maybe email Rosewood and ask them if they still make them? Or if there's just a shortage at the moment.
Incidentally - Pip just ignored it!

Forgot to mention. Buried right at the bottom of the cage, under his house, was a teaspoon! I wasn't aware one was missing but I know other hamsters have buried teaspoons.
