Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
I'm quite pleased with the pod and plastic tube extending from it. Pip is using it and seems to like the change. Mainly he's using it because I put a treat inside and a trail of sunflower seeds up to it! Whether he's in it when I'm around is another matter - for getting him out. But I like it.
Pip came out and told me off last night for making cage noises. And made very clear he wanted food if I had woken him up. Sat looking at his veg dish and coming to the bars and looking at me.
I was setting up the new Syrian cage in the lounge so there was some cage clanging noise.
I aim to start getting Pip out for taming soon, hopefully. His cage needs cleaning out (one side does anyway). And hopefully he'll run into the pod then!
The new Syrian is likely to be pretty awol for the first couple of weeks while settling in so I can still get on with taming Pip hopefully.

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
I'll take a photo of the pod with the tube attached when I get chance. It's this three way tube. It's only 6 inches long so doesn't protrude into the cage too much. I have it so it's a straight tube with the right angle bit pointing upwards with an end cap on. The idea being that will slow him up leaving the tube by trying to go up first! Or just an interesting place to poke his nose up into now and then.
Incidentally - I have just accidentally found a quicker way to upload photos! Instead of scrolling down to "Manage Attachments" to open the upload window - you can just click on the paperclip and that opens the upload window. All these years and I've only just discovered that!

I smiled at Pip demanding food as you made noise.

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
Pip is clearly aware there is another hamster in the room. And could no doubt hear the other wheel hammering away!. Just before bedtime he was sat on his Cork log very still staring at me. So I went to talk to him and reassure him it was ok. I continued to get this long hard stare as if to say "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!" So I just told him not to worry and went to bed

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
Well since the long hard stare I haven't seen Pip. He has been completely awol since Raffy arrived. It's a shame - never see him now. I know he comes out onto his wheel after lights out by looking on the hamstercam. But don't see him out in the cage at all any more at the moment. I hope he gets used to it soon. So no progress with taming there then.

Aw, I hope he comes out soon. I love the way you've set up the inside of his cage on the previous page, so many places to hide and explore. What a lucky little robo!

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
Thank you! I'll have to see how it goes. Maybe in a week or two they will both be used to their respective changes!

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
Same with Scottie. I moved him in a bigger cage with more substrate into the hamster room. Can't get to him now and he knows it.
He sat on his front shelf like the sphinx with his front paws tugged under yesterday morning, watching. Almost teasing me, "come and get me, bet you can't" and legged it through his tube when i opened the door.
Like Pip, he'll sit, look and listen to me but he won't come out of his cage. Monty i could scoop up in my hands but Scottie is so small and fast....

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
Don't see Pip at all now! He is completely awol. He is clearly affected by another hamster i n the room. I hope this improves or I might need to have the cages in different rooms (and that would be tricky to achieve).
When Pip arrived, Pickle's cage was on the shelf below and that didn't seem to bother him, but maybe he's forgotten! It was a few months ago. And it's a change.

Re: Say hello to Pip (Aka Pipkin)
Maybe Pip needs a bit of time to get used to sharing his room with Raffy. I was wondering if having Pip in your bedroom could mean you see more of him?
