Re: Need advice on robos
Yes there is a thin CSW and a thicker one I just took it out tho my large niteangel one came in so my Syrian has one of those now too it’s so silent it’s unbelievable! And for the photos I don’t have a computer (I know it’s 2021 and I don’t have a computer lol) I use my phone so if u can explain how to do it on my phone that would be great! I just been pasting the iCloud link cuz I couldn’t figure out the life of me how to do it! Lol it kept telling me it was too big or the wrong file

Re: Need advice on robos
There's an app called "Image Size". Yes if the file is too big it won't post. If you select the photo in Image Size and set the width to say 600 pixels the depth will change automatically, then you save it and it saves the new version to your phone (as well as the original). That should upload then.
If that's too fiddly you can use an online program - further down this page it just does it for you - upload, select 600 pixels wide and it does it for you.

Re: Need advice on robos
As to the CSW - what is the point of the thinner one?! I didn't realise there were two types when I ordered mine and it's far too flimsy! Ok I guess.
Yep it's the ball bearings that make the silent wheels silent Silent runner and rodipet wheels have the same thing.

Re: Need advice on robos
In case it's any help--I haven't had any more progress with Bean. It's been 2 weeks now and some days I only see him for a few minutes and he won't take the seed I offer him but just runs to the burrow. I'm going to wait another 2 weeks or so and then, when I hear him digging around and cracking seeds in the middle of the day, take him out of the tank and put him in the bathtub for some really-getting-to-know-each-other time.
It's not very satisfying to clean up after and feed an animal you see for like three minutes and can't touch. I suppose he's happy enough with it though. But if I don't change something, I don't know how it will change itself. Or will it, with more time?

Is lichen safe? I’m new to cork logs but I do know to bake them

Re: Need advice on robos
Yes it's fine and never known a hamster try to eat it either. They sometimes scratch at the inside of the logs but not the outside. Incidentally how did the baking go? The last time I tried to bake a cork log it made a horrible stink! And the log smelled too - maybe I had temperature too high or left it too long.

Re: Need advice on robos
I bake my cork logs at 200 degrees Fahrenheit it smells a little like wood but that’s it. And the linchen growth is ok? My hamster does chew the cork logs but doesn’t eat it. As for the CSW I don’t know what the point of the thinner one is but I prefer the thicker one but now I prefer niteangel I’ve never heard a wheel so silent way more silent than the CSW. Also at least u see bean for 2 minutes a day I can only see coconut thru the night camera when I’m in bed and the lights are off he doesn’t come out at all during the day he stays in his burrow I’m at the point where I wanna uncover the burrow to start taming but I know that’s mean plus my cage is so deep and big I don’t know where he is burrowed lol. He doesn’t even pouch his food and take it to his nest he only eats when he comes out late night. It’s been over 2 weeks and I don’t know what else to do to get him to come out. I got a robo cuz I heard they were more active and come out more throughout the day than Syrians but of course not my little nugget lol

Re: Need advice on robos
They vary in personality but ours didn’t start coming out during the day till he was a bit older and more confident. Maybe a few months old. What time do you feed him? Maybe some cage noise at feeding time and feeding earlier might encourage him to come out earlier - Say 4 or 5pm eg. I’d keep talking to him even if you can’t see him. He’ll get accustomed to that and start to get familiar with the sound of your voice. If he’s still reclusive in a week or so then maybe think about having a bit less substrate in and his wheel nearer his house (temptation!)

Re: Need advice on robos
So guys I have very good news!! My little robo coconut actually came out yesterday around 7pm even when the tv was pretty loud. He saw me spy him and was staring at me lol I sat and talked to him and he inches closer then ran and hid then came back out and peeked and came a little closer than ran back to his house so we are making progress! Plus I looked in his cage this morning and I saw little foot prints in his sand bath which is on the other side of the cage that he hasn’t ventured to yet (it’s a huge cage so I think he was afraid to go to the other side he always stayed by his house food bowl and wheel) also I saw bedding in his ceramic cooling hide on the other side as well so he was in there. He’s starting to get comfortable and venturing a little further throughout his cage. I was so excited and wanted to tell everyone we are FINALLY making progress! Also last night when he ran to his house it’s a niteangel multi chamber hide I took the lid off and he was burrowed but every time I started making kissy noises and talking he would poke his head out of the bedding when I stopped he would go back in ad we did that for about 10 minutes haha so he’s starting to be interested in me!!! Yay!!!

Re: Need advice on robos
Well, that's nice!
Don't get disappointed if there are still some no-show days; it's been my experience that those happen and then things get better again. Or maybe that won't happen to you.
