Maybe he hasn't quite acquired the habit of it yet. Whereabouts is the sand box? Is it easy for him to get into? Silly question really, I am sure it is. My robo's first habit on getting up was to either go straight to his sand bath (which he also pooped in) or to get his bit of veg. But as a baby they discover things a bit at a time maybe. Or maybe he's just so enamoured of his wheel that takes priority right now!

Yea he can get to his sand bath easy if u look at the picture of the enclosure it’s behind the light brown rock hide under the bridge it’s a niteangel sand bath and I know he can get in and out of it cuz I watched him do it the day I brought him home and put him in his cage. The pet store told me he’s about 3-4 months that’s when they get them but that’s a bunch of bull cuz PetSmart gets there hamsters at 4-5 weeks so he’s definitely a baby lol. I think he’s just very scared yet I leave him out little freeze dried fruit so he learns that he gets good things from me

I had a dwarf baby who didn't use her sandbath at first so i thought that she didn't like it but left it in of course.

After about two or three months she started using it and loved it. They just do things in their own time.

I have heard about nite angel products and saw some on Amazon last year - some (not all) are virtually the same as the rodipet ones in Germany - I wonder if there is a link with them. Just looked on their website and they have the same "cage" that rodipet have (the tank style on that slots together). But also they have some hyacinth and sisal tunnels that look the same as the Rosewood ones!

I am curious as to if they just deal with lots of other manufacturers to sell under a different brand in the US (like Savic cages are called Lixit cages in the US).

The wheel is not one I have ever seen before. If it's good it must be competing with the Exotic nutrition silent runner and the Carolina Storm wheel - which have been the two big ones in the last few years.

Either way it's great there are now so many good hamster products in the US! I looked at the wheel on the website and it's 8.2" so they don't have a syrian sized one? It also looks like a similar design to the rodipet wheels (with the sliding height adjustment via the stand) but in acrylic. It looks a good wheel! Not cheap - but you pay for silent. The Silent Runner 9" is $3 less.

Good that there are options for both open wheels (niteangel) and closed (silent runner) though. I prefer an open wheel for a robo in case they fly out. I used to worry that with the ones with holes in they would catch themselves on the edges of the holes if they flew out!

Agree with Ria - sometimes they do things in their own time. It needs a good two weeks to settle into a cage and develop regular habits as well.

Yes niteangel has 3 different size wheels robo wheels medium sized hamsters and Syrian wheel I love niteangel products they sell on Amazon if that’s available to you. There wheels are actually better than the Carolina storm wheel quieter if u can believe that haha and sturdier I actually replaced my Carolina storm wheel with niteangel for both hamsters. I have all there products I just love them all natural safe and natural looking! Looks beautiful in the enclosures.

Don’t think they’re available in the Uk unfortunately - but we do have Rodipet in Germany . I know the Carolina wheel was incredibly popular and actually spent a stupid amount of money buying one - shipped from the US. Originally because I was going to adopt a pair of robos and thought it would be a nice deep wheel for then to run in together as well as a second wheel. Then they weren’t available abd I adopted a Syrian so it’s mainly only been used for out of cage time. It has been useful for my holiday cage though as an 11” wheel doesn’t fit in that.

I was actually hugely disappointed with it. The quality- it feels quite flimsy really snd has never been quite straight when spinning. And kind of clumsy altogether. Our Syrian likes it though - in his playpen - he doesn’t realise it’s pink .

Fantastic! Now your CSW looks more sturdy and solid than mine. The bucket on mine is thin plastic. Either I got the wrong type (there are two types aren't there?) or mine is not the real thing!

A tip re photos - you can embed them in your message rather than links. You'll need to resize them first - easiest way is in paint on Windows 10 but there are apps for resizing too (and online resize utilities). In Paint go to resize and select 600 pixels for width and "save as".

You then click on "Go Advanced" at the bottom of your message box (it's next to "Post Quick Reply".

1. Click on Go Advanced.
2. Scroll down to Manage Attachments and click on that - a new window opens.
3. Click on "Browse" and select the photo to upload
4. Click on "Upload" - next to the browse button.
5. Wait till the photo is uploaded (a link appears).
6. Close the window.

You then go back to your message box and at the top is a paperclip symbol. Click the little arrow next to it and your photo link is there. Make sure your cursor is at the end of the typed message (or where you want the photo to appear).

Click on the photo link (or if there are a few click on "Insert all"

Some text will appear saying Attachment 12345 (the numbers will be different!

Then when you post the message by clicking "Submit reply" the photo appears in your message box. Like this

Attachment 52516

I can't see your hamster, says my browser isn't supported, whatever that means.
Would be great if you could repost them the way Serendipity suggested. I'd love to see your other hamster.
