Im sorry to read he is doing the same as my girls were.

Yeah they would stop to drink or eat, but you could see that they were still struggeling to keep their heads straight - often they were so dizzy they would fall on their side - when they did sleep it was breifley from exhaustion.

When they tried to move normally the spinning got faster. When i took them to the vets the vet did not know what was wrong - they actually went and tried to research what it could be, they got the other vets to look and they also dident know - though i already knew what it was since its a common trait in robos (i have read). They said the only kind thing was to get her PTS as she would have wasted away - it was more painfull to watch her spin round than it was to get her PTS as at least when she went she wasnt suffering anymore. This happened to the next girl eactly a week later and i was back at the vets at the same time the next week to get her PTS.

I spoke to the vet yesterday about him, and she said they could put him on a course of baytril to see if it is caused by an inner ear infection, but i really think it was something he was born with as i got him when he was 14 weeks and he was like then!

I have left him alone for the past 2 days and have noticed that he is now using his wheel and not spinning as much as he used too, i know the spinning increases due to stress so maybe me trying to tame him is stressing him which is making him spin more.

It does sound like he was born with it sarah. It would likely be pretty stressful to medicate him too and may make it worse.
If they are able to have an outlet for their need to spin then they seem quite happy.
Glad he seems to be using his wheel and this helps.

My girls were both 2 years when they started. I'm glad to read he is running in his wheel. Are you putting the baytril in his water?

When I took my first girl to the vets I did ask about if it could be inner ear and he told me I was unlikley but gave me the option to try baytril. I decided against it at the time as she seemed to be suffering too much, though she could of in no was attempted to run on a wheel.

I havent decieded if i want to try using baytril, as i dont think it will make it any better!

He only runs on his wheel for about 5 seconds then he jumps off and does a spin but it is showing me that maybe he isnt as bad as i thought.

Thank you for all the replys!
